"My parents were avid travelers and accomplished photographers. They took every opportunity to explore the beautiful countries we lived in, cameras in hand with my sisters and I in tow. When not helping our mother furnish some cavernous colonial embassy residence or another, we grew up trekking in the Himalayas; visiting tea plantations in Darjeeling; sailing around Great Britain and the Mediterranean; catching mackerel in the west of Ireland; and getting lost in flea markets from Antwerp to Aix... All the while lamenting no museum, monastery, ruined castle or ancient pile of stones could escape unexplored. Those adventures and a thousand more were captured in heaps of wonderful photographs spilling out of albums - many lost to time and countless moves. But in some small way, I'd like to think those vivid memories and wonderful experiences are recaptured in every picture I take".
When not traveling on assignment, Max divides his time between Brooklyn NY, Jackson WY and Mexico City with his wife, son and 4 dachshunds.
